On the 9th of October, I had just returned home from taking Jacob to school. The drive is usually quiet and uneventful, which is sometimes not a bad thing trying to beat the tardy bell. But not this particular morning. Just as I was pulling into the driveway of our house, I noticed 2 crows flying very low. Then I saw what they were flying low for. There was a hawk who was looking for refuge to get away from the crows. Obviously, the hawk had flown into the crows' territory. The hawk sat in a tree in our neighbors' backyard with the crows sitting high above in the same tree waiting for the hawk to make its next move. This gave me the opportunity to get the pictures. Shortly after I got the pictures, the hawk flew and the crows pursued it. The battle continued as I ran through the house hoping to get a glimpse of where the battle was going. The hawk flew just above our house with the crows nipping it and they all landed into the shallow edge of the woods just out of sight. But wow, the screeching of the two different species made for some interesting morning sounds. I really couldn't tell what type of hawk I was seeing as it was just too far away and trying to get closer would have made it fly. Luckily, after downloading the pictures, I could magnify and looking at other websites, I have come to a conclusion, this hawk was a Cooper's Hawk. It is the same kind of hawk Jacob and I saw in Plymouth, in August, at the seashore.
